Bukit Lawang

Bukit Lawang is the name of the resorts in Langkat, North Sumatra Province, located 68 km northwest of Kota Binjai and about 80 km northwest of the city of Medan. Bukit Lawang included within the scope of the Gunung Leuser National Park which is a conservation area of orang-utan.

Local people call it a Bohorok. In fact, if we trace Bohorok is one of the administrative units in Bukit Lawang. Tourism development here began with the founding of the first orangutan rehabilitation center in Sumatra in the early 1980s.

Besides the natural charm, beauty of Bukit Lawang is shown by the "Goa Batu Kapal" and the "Goa Batu Rizal" plus Bohorok a clear river, people come here to see the activity and feeding of the orangutans.

Because the interest of visitors who continued to grow, Bukit Lawang was grown as mandatory visited tourist areas in North Sumatra. Development of accommodation facilities continue to mushroom.
